Extending the boundaries of Safety, Equipment Reliability and Ownership Cost Reduction

Dubai: The 2011 International Plant Maintenance and Reliability Conference ended yesterday at the Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The conference was designed in a workshop format and featured topics relevant to maintenance and reliability professionals. The conference lasted three days and was divided into sessions such as Strategic Leadership Planning and Control, Risk and Reliability Management,  and Asset Integrity Management.  The theme of the conference was: "Sustainable Futures - Extending the boundaries of Safety, Equipment Reliability and Ownership Cost Reduction".

Maintenance professionals and practitioners from process industries in the GCC region delivered presentations and papers on a variety of topics related to the plant maintenance, reliability and integrity profession.  The presentations were delivered as case studies and reviews of best practices and in a highly interactive workshop environment. 

Mr. Khaled Malallah Al Awadi from EMARAT delivered the opening speech and presented a paper on the "The United Arab Emirates' Gas Pipeline Networks Integration (GPNI) Leads to GCC Gas Pipeline Network Integration".

Mr. Mohammed K Othman, Manager, Maintenance Planning & Reliability from DUBAL,  is one of the featured speakers of the Session on Asset Integrity Management.  He discussed his recent case study on "Asset Health Care Programme at DUBAL :  A Practical Approach for the Application of Lean Maintenance and Six Sigma."

Topics discussed during the conference included analysis of World Class Maintenance practices, shutdown and turnaround management, implementing safety lifecycle concepts and benefits of root cause analysis.  In addition instructional and informative presentations were delivered highlighting new standards such as PAS 55 and structured approaches for implementing asset integrity systems and operational excellence programs. 

To enhance the conference experience breakout sessions were held where the participants could share their personal learning's and frontline experiences from industry.  Networking among the participants was encouraged and promoted.

The conference was arranged by a Dubai based company, 'Knowledge Expansion' and showcased technologies and services from global and regional companies, over 150 professionals across the globe actively participated in three days of education, networking and new business development opportunities.
