AMMAN — The Government's Shareholding Management Company’s shares in Royal Jordanian Airlines reached 84.8 per cent, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

RJ’s General Assembly approved an increase to the company’s capital by JD50 million. Saeed Darwazeh, chairman of RJ’s Board of Directors during a virtual non-ordinary RJ general assembly meeting, expressed appreciation of the government’s efforts towards supporting the national carrier with JD50 million contribution.

He added that this amount is part of a set of procedures towards enhancing RJ’s liquidity and capital to address the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
