Dubai: Semi-finalists in the Shuttle Time Dubai Badminton Club Championships were decided in the third and final week of group matches at Dubai Sports World on Friday.
In Group A, Professional Sports Academy beat Shuttle Hawks 5-0, to secure their berth in the last four where they will now play Team Victor who beat Friday Smashers B 4-1. And India Club beat Shuttle Shooters 3-2 to book their place alongside Friday Smashers A, who beat Jpark Shuttlers 4-1.
Meanwhile, in Group B, Badeemonz beat Badmintown 3-2, to face Arab Badminton Club in their final after the latter beat Captain Badminton Club 5-0.
Group A Semi-finals and the Group B final will commence at 5pm on August 21 at Dubai Sports World, while Group A finals will be held on August 28.
The Shuttle Time Dubai community initiative is a legacy of Dubai Sports Council’s four-year agreement to bring the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Superseries Finals to the emirate each December until 2017. Last year was its first staging in Dubai. The second hosting of the event will be held at the Hamdan Sports Complex from December 9-13. As well as competing for the US$1 million prize-pool, the world’s top eight players will also be looking to earn vital qualifying points for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
