KUWAIT CITY: Eid Al-Adha holidays, which will be in the month of August, can be either for five days or nine days depending on when Dhu Al-Hijjah month starts and the Cabinet’s decision, quoting reliable sources.

They explained that, in case it is confirmed that the start of Dhu Al-Hijjah is on Monday, Aug 13, the holidays will be for five days. The Arafat Waqfa (Standing on Mount Arafat) will be on Tuesday, Aug 21 and the first day of Eid will be on Wednesday, Aug 22. The five-day holidays will include four days of Eid (Wednesday to Saturday) and Arafat Waqfa day (Tuesday). Work will resume on Sunday, Aug 26.

If Dhu Al-Hijjah is confirmed to start on Aug 12, then Arafat Waqfa will be on Monday, Aug 20 and the first day of Eid Al-Adha will be on Tuesday, Aug 21. In this case, the holidays will be for nine days from Friday, Aug 17 to Saturday, Aug 25.

However, whether Sunday, Aug 19 will be a holiday or not since it lies between Saturday (weekend) and Monday (Arafat Waqfa) depends on the decision of the Cabinet.
