DUBAI: Some 2,570 residents embraced Islam in Dubai from January to September 2020 remotely, in cooperation with the Islamic centers in the emirate, according to a report issued by the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Islamic Culture of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai.

"Based on the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai a beacon for moderate Islam in the region and the world, the centre has always taken advantage of Dubai being a most diverse city with interaction within the society regardless of the background, religion and beliefs," Hind Mohammed Lootah, Director of the Centre said.

Lootah pointed out that this diversity has made the centre contribute to correcting the image, values and principles of Islam, stressing that many residents have researched deeply about the Islamic religion, Islamic law and its rulings, to be fully aware of society.

Hana Abdullah Al-Jallaf, Head of the New Muslim Welfare section, explained that the decision of the residents to convert to Islam followed by major changes and sometimes challenges at the cultural and social levels.

Al-Jallaf confirmed the centre’s keenness to support the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department to provide the follow-up and care for them including in the religious, social, cultural, family and procedural aspects.

The services provided by the centre declare Islam; issue certificates of converting to Islam; lost and found certificate, and an authenticated copy; a certificate to whom it may concern for the children of new Muslims, certificates for whom it may concern to obtain material care in cooperation with the Zakat Fund in Abu Dhabi, facilitate procedures for marriage in cooperation with Dubai Courts and provide lessons and tests in cooperation with the student affairs section at the centre.
