KUWAIT CITY: The Environment Public Authority (EPA) is currently conducting an extensive media campaign, urging all those going to beaches and desert areas to maintain public hygiene and refrain from dumping waste in areas not allotted for such purpose, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.

Sources revealed the campaign includes the display of several awareness posters on the importance of cleaning the place after picnics. Sources said it is also important to carry out continuous inspection campaigns to ensure strict compliance with environment protection regulations.

Sources cited Article 33 of the Environment Protection Law and its amendments, stating that garbage or waste of any kind should be dumped only in containers designated for this purpose.

Anyone who violates this article is fined not less than KD50 and not more than KD500. Sources affirmed the Kuwait Municipality is performing its role in terms of establishing waste disposal sites, pointing out that the role of citizens and residents is to dump their waste properly.
