Dubai: Salons and beauty centres in Dubai will be under scrutiny to prevent hygiene violations during the busy days of Eid celebrations, Dubai Municipality said on Wednesday.

The Health and Safety Department of the municipality will intensify inspections in these establishments from Thursday, the civic body said in a press release.

Redha Salman, director of the Department, said the Department has started implementing its plan to intensify monitoring efforts on service establishments such as salons and beauty centres to ensure their readiness on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, which falls on Friday.

“Normally, this is a period of increasing demand from the public for such services. The focus will also be on the areas of recreation centres and games for children due to increased number of visitors during Eid,” he said.

Salman explained that there is a permanent state of emergency at the Municipality’s Health and Safety Department during the most important occasions for the public such as Eid Al Adha, especially for the markets to make certain that traders are committed to offer only goods and products approved by the Municipality, thus ensuring the health and safety of the public.

“The Environmental Emergencies Team remains in its campaigns against malpractices in some areas, while the anti-smoking team works around the clock in the places of sale of smoking items and cafes that offer shisha to make sure that they do not exploit the holiday period and violate rules, thinking that on holidays there is no monitoring,” he said.

Salman pointed out that the Municipality does not stop working on any holidays, festivals or other important occasions so as to always keep an eye on the health and safety of the public.
