Based on orders issued by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, there will a reduction in fees charged for various government services across the Sultanate of Oman. On Tuesday, His Majesty issued orders to prepare a unified guide for pricing for government services.

“In implementation of the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik regarding the preparation of a unified guide for pricing government service fees, a unified mechanism for determining and pricing service fees, taking into account the potential financial, economic and social effects will be put in place,” Oman News Agency, ONA, said in a statement.

 

A comprehensive view will be taken when studying the fees to account for both stakeholders, the government department as well as the applicant, to clarify the aspects through which it is possible to facilitate and simplify the procedures for providing the service.

The Ministry of Finance confirmed that such a guide, in its first phase, was prepared and applied to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and the Municipalities Sector, and its outputs resulted in the reduction of 548 various service fees with the percentage of reduction in fees ranging from 17 per cent to 96 per cent.

The Ministry of Finance clarified in a statement that a number of service fees have been canceled to facilitate the beneficiaries, and the competent authorities will take the necessary measures so that the new fees will take effect from January 1, 2022, noting that the details of the fees referred to above will be available on the Ministry’s website.
