Muscat: The Consumer Protection Board has discussed the law to combat commercial fraud during its second meeting this year.
"The Board of Directors of the Consumer Protection Authority in the General Court of the Authority held its second meeting for the current year 2021, headed by His Excellency Dr Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and in the presence of the members of the Board. During the meeting, a number of issues related to the Authority’s workflow were discussed," Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) said in a statement.
The Board members reviewed the Authority’s efforts during the first half of 2021 and what has been achieved in order to maintain a safe consumer market for all, appreciating the tangible role of the Authority’s cadres in monitoring and controlling violators in the markets in the various governorates of the Sultanate despite the challenges they faced in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
They stressed the importance of continuing diligent work and building bridges of cooperation with various government and private agencies in the Sultanate to establish constructive partnerships to serve the Authority’s efforts to maintain market stability, protect consumers and preserve their rights.
The Board also discussed a number of topics on the agenda, the most important of which is the law of the unified system for combating commercial fraud. A statement on the authority's expenditure rationalisation plan was presented.
