Inflation in Egypt is expected to ease in the second half (H2) of 2023, Planning Minister Hala El-Said told Asharq Business in an interview on January 18th.

She added that inflation is expected to range between 7% and 9% by the end of the year.

In December 2022, Egypt’s annual headline inflation rate increased to 21.9%, compared to a record of 6.5% in December 2021, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) previously revealed that the annual core inflation rate of Egypt recorded 24.4% in December 2022, compared to 21.5% in November 2022.
