The textile and leather industries sector in Jordan experienced a significant increase in exports during the period of January-November 2022, reaching $338.4 million, marking a 20.2 per cent growth rate compared with the same period in 2021, according to the sector's representative at the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI), Ehab Qadri.

The sector's total exports surpassed $2 billion during that time, and growth surpassed 12 per cent of the average rate of annual growth, he noted.

Qadri attributed the success to the efforts to promote domestic products in various export markets, particularly in the US, which constitutes Jordan’s largest market for clothing exports, accounting for over 85 per cent of the sector's total exports.

He also said that the clothing sector has an estimated untapped export potential of $550 million, based on the International Trade Centre’s "export opportunities map”, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
