Senate President Faisal Fayez on Monday commended Saudi Arabia's support for the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian sites during a visit to Riyadh.

The Senate president also expressed appreciation of Saudi Arabia’s help in overcoming economic challenges facing Jordan due to the surrounding circumstances and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

During a meeting with President of the Saudi Shura Council Abdullah Al Sheikh in Riyadh, the discussions covered the “solid” nature of Jordanian-Saudi relations, current regional conditions and issues related to serving the best interests of both countries, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Fayez said that Jordan and its people believe that the security of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Gulf countries is intertwined with the security of Jordan, rejecting any interference in the affairs of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Gulf countries.

Talks also highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral relations, notably in the investment, economic and parliamentary fields. The discussions also emphasised the need for restoring Yemen’s legitimacy and stability in Syria and Libya.

During his official visit to Saudi Arabia upon an invitation by the Shura Council president, Fayez visited the Jordanian pavilion at an international information technology exhibition in Riyadh.

The exhibition was attended by numerous global companies and featured the participation of 15 major Jordanian companies, as well as a number of Jordanian IT startups.

Fayez and his accompanying delegation was briefed by Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmad Hanandeh on the goals and nature of Jordan's participation in the exhibition.
