Kuwait thanked for funding projects in Nepal

Kuwait City - Kuwait’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Sami Al-Hamad praised the Kuwaiti-Nepalese relations, affirming that both countries are keen on strengthening ties in various fields, reports Al- Qabas daily.

Speaking at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in the Nepalese Embassy recently, Al-Hamad asserted: “We have good relations with Nepal, and there have been discussions between officials of the two countries, in addition to cooperation agreements.”

He also highlighted the presence of a diverse Nepalese community in Kuwait that contributes to the development of the country.

Bilateral
On the other hand, Nepalese Ambassador to Kuwait Durga Prasad Bhandari confirmed that the bilateral relations between his country and Kuwait have been strong in the last 50 years.

He said Kuwait has been funding major projects in Nepal through soft loan arrangements since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He disclosed these projects focus on energy and agriculture, while indicating that Kuwait remains an important destination for Nepalese migrant workers who contribute significantly to the Kuwaiti economy and help in strengthening relations between the two countries at the grassroots level.

He cited the exchange of visits between the two countries, cooperation in addressing issues of mutual interest and international importance, solidarity and supporting each other during difficult times as ways of strengthening ties between Kuwait and Nepal.

He revealed there is cooperation in the field of air connectivity between the two countries, pointing out that two important cities in Nepal are connected to Kuwait through direct flights operated by three airlines.

He believes these new developments in the field of civil aviation will further strengthen trade, travel and tourism relations between the two countries.
