ArabFinance: The Egyptian government disbursed a total of EGP 348.37 million as allowance to the employees affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, according to an August 26thstatement.

The grant benefited approximately 300,931 workers across 3,436 establishments in different fields, the Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan elaborated.

He added that EGP 208.87 million was paid out to 201,940 tourism employees in 3,237 private and public entities.

The ministry disbursed another EGP 98.70 million to 76,675 workers in 97 spinning and weaving establishments, Saafan said.

He added that EGP 40.80 million was paid to 23,163 employees in 102 entities across various sectors.

Earlier this month, the minister revealed that affected workers in the tourism sector alone have been disbursed about EGP 207.65 million.
