PRETORIA - South Africa's economy grew 0.5% in the first quarter of 2026 in seasonally-adjusted quarter-on-quarter terms, statistics agency data showed on Tuesday.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 0.3%, compared to a 0.4% increase in the last quarter of 2025.
On a year-on-year basis GDP grew 1.9% in the first three months of 2026, slightly higher than economists' forecast for 1.8% growth.
