PRETORIA - South ​Africa's ⁠economy grew 0.5% ‌in the first quarter ​of 2026 in ​seasonally-adjusted quarter-on-quarter terms, statistics ​agency data showed on Tuesday.

Economists ⁠polled by Reuters had forecast gross ​domestic product (GDP) ‌growth of 0.3%, ⁠compared ⁠to a 0.4% increase ​in ‌the last ⁠quarter of 2025.

On a year-on-year basis GDP grew 1.9% in the first three months ‌of 2026, slightly higher than ⁠economists' forecast ​for 1.8% growth.
