Manama: Work has commenced on a sewage drainage network between Sitra and Umm Al Hussam.

Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Khalaf said yesterday that the treated wastewater project will include a 5.3km sewage line from Sitra to Umm Al Hassam to carry the treated water.

The treated water in this station will cover 12,500 cubic metres of water Manama needs daily.

A water pumping station and 22 control rooms will also be built along the network. “The project will help provide water for 11 water tanks benefiting facilities including Water Garden and green areas in Manama,” said Mr Khalaf.

“The project will help treated water from Sitra sewage treatment plant which 14,500 cubic metres daily in watering gardens in Manama.”
