The Waljat College of Applied Sciences (WCAS) plans to start post-graduate courses in electronics and computer science.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Professor Dr Mohan Verma, dean of WCAS, said, "We will have 20 students in each batch of electronics and computer science. There are also plans to add more engineering branches including mechanical, chemical and electrical."

The college will hold its ninth convocation on Sunday under the patronage of H E Nasser bin Khamis al Jashmi, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Finance.

Dr Omar Abdul Muniem al Zawawi, founder of the college and Professor Dr Manoj Kumar Mishra, vice chancellor of Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi will also be present on the occasion.

This year, 336 students will graduate including 36 diploma holders, 222 undergraduates and 78 post-graduates.

The college has instituted the best project award to recognise innovation and quality research by undergraduate students from this year.

The four recipients of this award will receive a certificate of merit and cash prize.

Dr Verma said, "This is the first time that the college is going to give award for the best project in an attempt to motivate the students. Our courses are of international standards and most of our students are working in top companies around the world."
