BAGHDAD, Oct 4 (KUNA) -- Spokesman of the Iraqi National Accord (INA) Salim Al-Jabbouri said Thursday the US forces detained MP Nayef Jassem Mohammad of the INA in Al-Sharqat district in Ninevah governorate, northern Iraq.

The US forces broke into a funeral gathering and arrested the INA parliamentarian as well as a number of other mourners, Al-Jabbouri told KUNA.

"The INA calls for the immediate release of MP Mohammad, who enjoys parliamentary immunity and has no links to armed groups," the INA spokesman stressed.

"The detained MP is also member of the National Dialogue Council, led by INA MP Khalaf Al-Alyan," Al-Jabbouri noted.

He denied earlier press reports that Mohammad was arrested during his participation in a meeting of Al-Qaeda terrorist organization.

The INA is a parliamentary alliance of 44 MPs. It consists of the General Council for the People of Iraq, led by Adnan Addleimi; the Islamic Party, led by Vice President Tareq Al-Hashemi; and the National Dialogue Council, led by Khalaf Al-Alyan.
