Small businesses looking to submit their applications for the Lloyds TSB Small Business Awards 2006 must do so by the end of this week.

The first annual Lloyds TSB Small Business Awards 2006 were launched on July 30, 2006 to recognize and reward the contributions made to the economy, development and success by small businesses.

"We are overwhelmed by the enormous response and interest generated by the Lloyds TSB Small Business Awards 2006," said Giles Cunningham, the Chief Executive Officer of Lloyds TSB Group Middle East.

"We are thrilled to see so many applications and are confident that our small business awards initiative will show the way to recognise outstanding small businesses and set a benchmark for entrepreneurial excellence in the region".

The Lloyds TSB awards will include the categories "Entrepreneurial Start-Up", "Outstanding Customer Service", "Advertising Impact", "Corporate Social Responsibility", "Inspirational Leadership" and the overall "Small Business of the Year".

Applications are accepted from all small businesses with up to 50 employees and less than Dh25 million revenue.

The applicants do not have to be customers of Lloyds TSB and can apply online at www.sba2006.ae.

The awardees will be selected by an independent panel and the ceremony will be held on November 5 at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers.
