TUNIS, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah AL-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah remains "the voice of wisdom" that promotes his country's issues on the regional and international levels, Tunisian officials said on Sunday marking the second anniversary of the accession of the Amir.

In separate interviews with KUNA, these officials praised Sheikh Sabah's rich political expertise as a result of his 40 years of experience as Kuwait's foreign minister which has pushed forward the Arab joint action.

MP and head of the Tunisian-Kuwaiti parliamentary friendly committee Abdelqader Al-Faradi said "we in Tunis recognize His Highness the Amir and his high status on the Arab and international level."

Al-Faradi hoped that Kuwait will continue its development on the internal and foreign levels.

He said in the past two years' of Sheikh Sabah's ruling, both Tunisia and Kuwait have experienced more closeness and cooperation between both countries.

For his side, Tunisian former minister of culture and higher education Dr. Abdelsalam Al-Mesdi said under Sheikh Sabah's rule, Kuwait has enjoyed stability and security, even though the region has seen turbulent times.

He said that anyone with good intentions will recognize that Kuwait is committed to the Arab issues.

Editor-in-Chief of Al-Malaheth independent magazine Bubaker Al-Sagheer said that everyone in Tunisia acknowledges the role of Kuwait's investments in Tunisia's economy especially in the first phase of building the modern country.

He recalled the Kuwaiti initiatives in establishing vital ventures in his country which played a significant role in boosting the economy.

Tunisian political analysts and media figure Abdelatif Al-Farati said Sheikh Sabah is among the top defenders of the Arab-Arab cooperation.

In this respect, he recalled Sheikh Sabah's contributions to the establishment of the Arab fund for economic and social development, adding that the fund is a "Kuwaiti idea with Arab financing".

He also praised the smooth transfer of power after the death of the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, which reflects the practical and constitutional method of this process in the country.

Since he took over as Kuwait's Amir, he has been pursuing an approach based on the establishment of values of civility and realization of more development and prosperity for his homeland.

On Jan 29, 2006, HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah took the oath as Kuwait's new Amir in a special parliament session according to article 60 of the Kuwaiti Constitution.
