TUNIS (TAP) -  A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on co-operation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy was signed between the Ministry of Higher education and Scientific Research and Russia's Federal Atomic Energy Agency as part of the annual ATOMEXPO International Forum, held in Moscow on June 1-3, 2015.

The MoU provides, in particular, for the establishment of bilateral co-operation in assistance to the development of basic infrastructure of nuclear energy in Tunisia, strengthening fundamental and applied researches and design and use of nuclear reactors and research reactors, a Foreign Ministry statement published Wednesday reads.

The MoU was signed by Tunisia's ambassador in Moscow Ali Goumati and Deputy Director-General of Russia's Federal Atomic Energy Agency Nikolai Spasskiy at a ceremony held, on this occasion, with attendance of Serguei Kirienko, Director-General of the Agency and Abdelmajid Mahjoub Arab Atomic Energy Agency  (AAEA) Director General.
