Dubai, 30 June 2010 (WAM) -- Top GCC maritime industry experts will be gathering under one roof to dissect and analyse the region's expanding Middle East fleet this October at Seatrade Middle East Maritime (SMEM) 2010.

Addressing the challenges and opportunities that shipowners face as they gain prominence on the global shipping market will be a key discussion as well as the outlook for major shipping markets - tanker, dry bulk and container - and in particular, shipping relations between the Middle East and China.

Amongst the influential speakers who will converge on Dubai International Exhibition & Conference Centre from 26 - 28 October is Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, Group CEO, Dubai World; Humoud Al-Ajlan, Group CEO, National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (NSCSA); Nabil Bourisli, Chairman and MD of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) and J?rn Hinge, President & CEO of United Arab Shipping Company.

Most importantly, delegates to the sessions will be able to present their own questions for discussion with these industry leaders.

The US$38 billion worth of ports projects taking place across the MENA region will also be discussed with speakers including DP World Senior Vice President - Global Operations Andrew Adam and Capt. Feisal Ahmed Saad, manager of Ras Laffan Port.

The offshore marine market will discussed in its own session under the chair of Todd Grove, President and COO, Europe Division, ABS. Confirmed speakers include Fazel Fazelbhoy, CEO, Topaz Energy & Marine Ltd and Rasmus Stute of Germanischer Lloyd AG.
