Tehran, Aug 20, IRNA - The Philippine Ambassador to Tehran Eduardo Martin Menez on Wednesday was summoned to Foreign Ministry in protest at death of an Iranian national Parviz Khaki at Manila prison.

Deputy foreign minister for Asia-Pacific affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour expressed Iranian governmentˈs protest to The Philippine Ambassador Eduardo Martin Menez over suspicious death of Iranian national Parviz Khaki at a prison in Manila.

Rahimpour conveyed Iranˈs strong protest to The Philippine government over improper treatment of the Iranian national at prison in Manila.

He further noted that during earlier communications and visits to the country, the Iranian officials had warned about his illnesses, as Foreign Ministryˈs director general for East Africa affairs discussed the issue with the Philippines foreign minister in his recent visit to Manila.

Rahimpour blamed The Philippine government for irresponsibility in this respect, calling for suitable response from The Philippine government.

He recalled Iranˈs humanitarian cooperation regarding Filipino nationals in Iran.

The Philippine ambassador condoled over death of the Iranian national, saying the case is currently under investigation and the results will be declared to the Iranian officials at the earliest.

Khaki was arrested by the Philippines judicial authorities some time ago at the US government request to be handed over to the country.

He is one of the victims of anti-human actions against Iranian nationals arrested over empty allegations and died in custody after battling with hard diseases for several months.
