Al Ain, May 9th, 2011 (WAM) -- Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort (AWPR) announced today the new names for two tawny lions, following a hugely popular naming contest open to the community launched in January after the birth of the cubs.
During the tough decision-making process, the judges reviewed hundreds of creative names and finally chose the Arabic names "Dana" (meaning large pearl) for the female cub and "Laith" (meaning lion) for the male. The names were suggested by three and a half year-old Laith Qattmeer, a Jordanian national from Abu Dhabi. He and his family won a free family visit to the park, a guided tour by the zoo keepers to meet the lions and also received gift bags from the park.
