Germany will make history as the only country to be represented by two separate pavilions at the same World Expo when Expo 2020 Dubai opens on October 1 in the United Arab Emirates.

With organisers expecting 25 million visits during its six-month staging, which ends next March 31, Germany - a leading destination in the global tourism market - will be represented by two pavilions: Campus Germany in the Sustainability District, and Baden-Württemberg House in the Opportunity District.

Along with the chance to indulge in German cuisine, cultural performances, and various entertainment shows, Campus Germany, the national pavilion, is set to emphasise the country's innovations and sustainable solutions to a global audience.

Visitors will be provided with connected devices as they explore themed areas including The Energy Lab, The Future City Lab and The Biodiversity Lab.

Representing the German state of the same name, Baden-Württemberg House will spotlight the region’s history of engineering, science, innovation, business, research, tourism and culture.

The birthplace of major companies including Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and other manufacturing, technology and educational heavyweights, Baden-Württemberg is also home to the evergreen scenery and traditional villages of the legendary Black Forest.

Director of Sales and Marketing, German National Tourist Office (GNTO), the regional office of The German National Tourism Board (GNTB) Yamina Sofo said: “We will be highlighting German-made innovation to the global market from Campus Germany in the Sustainability District.

"The German National Tourism Board's commitment to eco-sustainability is at the forefront of the on-ground experiences, while the Baden-Württemberg House explores the opportunities available in the world-famous home of innovation, sustainability and, of course, the Black Forest.”

To help drive inward tourism, the GNTB will screen a short film promoting the country’s global tourism campaign - Destination Germany - throughout Expo 2020. In addition, the VIP section of the German Pavilion will house Virtual Reality (VR) experiences of a range of activities on offer across the country, provided by the tourism board.

To further emphasise the contributions of the tourism board, the German Pavilion will host its National Day celebration on November 29. Important calendar dates include German Unity Day on October 3, Mecklenburg–Vorpommern Week from January 24-30 and Berlin Week from February 14-20.-TradeArabia News Service
