ABU-DHABI, March 23 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Interior Sheikh Jaber Khalid Al-Sabah said Sunday he would mull with his UAE counterpart Saif Bin-Zayid Al-Nuhayyan the security issues of the Arabian Gulf region in general and the bilateral security ties in particular.

"The talks aim to coordinate steps to prevent spread of unrest to the region and face the common security challenges, Sheikh Jaber, now on a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE)," said in statements to KUNA.

He hailed the cooperation between the two countries and the other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members to maintain security and stability in the region.

"There are mounting unrest in the vicinity of the region that require effective joint action by the ministries of interior of the two countries and other GCC members," he pointed out.

Sheikh Jaber noted that his visit to the UAE was part of "profound understanding" of the common interests and joint destiny of the GCC members.

Upon his arrival to the UAE, the second leg of his regional tour after Oman, Sheikh Jaber was received by Lieut. Gen. Saif Al-Nuhayyan, Kuwait Ambassador to the UAE Faisal Abdullah Al-Mesh'an and other staffers of the embassy.

Sheikh Jaber and his party are scheduled to head for Qatar Monday and then to Bahrain as part of the four-state tour.
