Sharjah established another key economic beachhead on the Comoros Isles when its trade centre in the capital, Moroni, was formally inaugurated yesterday.
"The UAE has always stood by us," stated Othman Ghazaleh, President of the Comoros, who hailed the close ties existing between the two countries. "It is now helping in our infrastructure development as well."
Noting energy, tourism and financial services will be the key growth areas, he urged UAE businessmen to tap into the opportunities afforded in these sectors.
For his part, Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa, chairman, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, conveyed the Sharjah authorities' keenness to help develop the Comoros.
He also pointed out the emirate had already aided in the establishment of several public service facilities such as schools, mosques and healthcare centres.
Earlier, the Sharjah delegation met their counterparts in a bid to develop joint platforms and projects aimed at gaining mutual benefit in future.
