RIYADH — Al-Ikhbariya local Arabic TV channel will be transformed into a limited liability company called the Ikhbariya Network Company, according to a decision issued by Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Awwad Al-Awwad.

The company will be jointly owned by the Radio and Television Corporation and Saudi Press Agency.

The minister's decision aims to upgrade the Arabic language news channel and launch an English language news channel.

Awwad said the goal is to transmit the Kingdom’s message to the world with a high level of professionalism using up-to-date technologies so as to compete professionally as well as commercially.

Ikhbariya Network Company will be run by a 7-member board, with an executive bureau, three of them representing the Ministry of Culture and Information, two independent members representing the private sector and two members each representing the Radio and TV Corporation and Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
