Abu Dhabi, June 8th,2007 (WAM) -- Over 2000 male and femalestudents along with 45 students from GCC countries will gathertomorrow at the Samaliya island for the 14th summer camp wherethey play, entertain and learn.
Dubbed as the largest annual heritage and youth gatheringin Abu Dhabi,the Samaliya Island Summer Forumis being held under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin ZayedAl Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the EmiratesHeritage Club (EHC).
Mohammed Saif Al Neyadi, EHC Manager, said this year's campwill have a new look in term of activities as part of the EHC'sstrategy to promote and inculcate good values, national identityand belonging and local traditions among young generations.
''We have prepared attractive, exciting programmesfor campers ranging from entertainment, education, artand culture to sports games,''he added.
Meanwhile, Ateq Al Falasi, Chairman of the OrganisingCommittee, said all arrangements were in place at the islandincluding safety measures at land and sea from health facilities,to police station and civil defence.
''Around 14 activities have been lined up to entertainand educate campers in fields like shooting, equestrian, camelracing, falconry, swimming, sailing and rowing, diving, fishing,hunting, scientificjourneys, folklore and traditional games like Yola, handicrafts,environment, astronomy, computers, drawing, photography, interiordesign and other educational activities,''he explained.
He added that participants will also be taking on toursto key historic and archaeological landmarks and major institutionsand companies.
Training workshops on handicrafts will also be organised.
''The key programme will concentrate on revival of theUAE heritage in general,''he said.
The camp will help students hone their skills and talents,forge new friends, learn to work in group and love voluntarywork.
