Iran's Parliament speaker here Wednesday in a meeting with former Lebanese premier Omar Karami expressed satisfaction over Lebanon's procession towards peace and stability, adding Lebanese resistance and national personalities played major key roles in that process.

According to the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Majlis, Mass Media Department, Ali Larijani meanwhile reiterated, "Of course, in the course of the recent up and down in Lebanon's general status the people suffered great hardships, but thanks to their strong resistance they are today known among the Islamic countries as a symbol and a model nation."

The Iranian Parliament speaker referred to Islamic Republic of Iran's relations with Lebanon as deep rooted and fate-making, stressing, "Tehran spares no effort towards strengthening the foundations of peace and stability in Lebanon."

Larijani meanwhile evaluated the role of the parliaments in expansion of friendly relations between the nations and strengthening them as "significant", announcing the Iranian Parliament's readiness for expansion of parliamentary relations with Lebanon.

Karami, too, in the meeting presented a report on Lebanon's recent developments, agreeing with Larijani on the point that the Lebanese resistance and people played a decisive role in bringing back peace, security and stability to Lebanon.

He added, "We also appreciate the Islamic Republic of Iran's continuous support for restoration of peace and stability in Lebanon." The head of Lebanon's National Reconciliation Movement and former prime minister at the end seriously criticized the US and Israeli interferences in internal affairs of his country, reiterating, despite the heavy efforts made by the US and Israel to destabilize the Lebanese political and social scenes, the people and the Islamic resistance effectively annulled them and dismantled their nasty plots."
