Abu Dhabi, 4 Oct. 2009 (WAM) - In celebration of announcing the launch of Al Ain Center for Music in the World of Islam, which will be open in two years, by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage ADACH, an Andalusia night was organized Saturday night Oct 3 at the Cultural Foundation.
The musical concert titled "Hona Yananou Kalbi" or (Here lies my heart) was dedicated to recall the beautiful era of authentic Andalusia poems from the 11th century where Arab Muslims created and developed most of their arts forms and music. Oud player, composer and singer from Syria Waad Bouhassoun singed famous poems by the famous lovers/ poets of Andalusia; Ibn Zaydoun and Wallada. Waad is one of rare female oud players in the Arab world; she started practicing since she was seven years old with support from here father the oud player. The flamenco singer Curro Pinana accompanied by Carlos Pinana on the guitar and Miguel Angel Orengo on the cajun singed poems by the great Arab philosopher of sophism Ibn Arabi who was born in Murcia in 1165. And in a duet performance Waad and Pinana singed in Arabic and Spanish famous parts of Ibn Zaydouns and Walladas exchanged passion poems. The concert is part of conference titled "why safeguard our musical heritage for the future" which is one of the start-up period activities of Al Ain Center for music in the world of Islam. The two days conference (started on Saturday Oct 3) brings together thirty of the most eminent musicologists, ethnomusicologists, anthropologists, researchers and scholars from twenty one countries. Dr. Shareef Khazendar, project manager of Al Ain Center said in the introduction of the concert that it is the first activity for the center which will undertake, encourage and sponsor research in the field of music and ethnomusicology. "Here lies my heart" was one of the major events of the opening of Damascus 2008 cultural capital of the Arab world which was presented at the famous Alhambra Palace in Granada at Spain illustrating the Andalusian influence on music and poetry in Spain.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2009.
