Dubai, 17th Feb. 2014 (WAM) -- With just a few days until the start of the inaugural Dubai Food Festival (DFF), Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), has announced a full and appetising line-up for the city-wide celebration of food-related events, tastings and activations.
The 23-day festival from 21 February - 15 March will witness the launching of family-oriented events such as the Dubai Food Carnival and The Big Grill, and showcase the rich culture and cuisines of the southern Indian state of Kerala at the Grand Kerala Festival, as well as the South American nation of Peru in The Taste of Peru. Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General, DTCM, said: "The inaugural Dubai Food Festival will provide a platform for the DTCM and our partners in the hospitality and restaurant sectors to demonstrate the Emirate's credentials as a leading gastronomy destination. The quality and range of our culinary offering is something that will increasingly be used as a tourism driver and through the Dubai Food Festival we will demonstrate the variety of offer that exists across the Emirate, including world-class international brands, homegrown restaurants, and high quality street-food. The launch of Dubai Food Festival is an indication of DTCM's commitment to continually enhance Dubai's destination offer, a key element of our Tourism Vision for 2020."Dubai Food Festival will also feature trade events to position Dubai as the leading trade and business centre for the food industry, such as the Gulfood, the world's largest annual food and hospitality trade show, and the Global Restaurant Investment Forum (GRIF). Providing a fitting finale to the festival will be The Taste of Dubai, an exciting event packed with numerous restaurants, offering diverse and signature dishes, celebrity chefs, and live music.
