UAE developer Aldar Properties launched a new project on Monday that will boost its real estate portfolio with 204 new apartments and penthouses, as it looks to tap into the growing demand for homes purposely built to support holistic health and wellbeing.

The new "wellness" development, dubbed The Source, forms the next phase of Aldar's cultural destination Saadiyat Grove and is the first of its kind in the UAE, Aldar said in a statement on Monday.

Located in Saadiyat Cultural District, the project will feature sustainable design elements that will cut carbon emissions and water usage throughout the construction.

It will be a low-rise development dedicated to supporting the residents' holistic health and wellbeing, with community features including thermal suites, saunas, pools, gyms, kilometres of walkways, running tracks and beaches, as well as rooms for yoga, Pilates and meditation.

It will also be equipped with squash courts and an exclusive residents' lounge and will offer residents views of the Zayed National Museum and the fountains.

"We have seen growing demand for high-quality homes in communities that are [dedicated to] the holistic health and wellbeing of residents. As such, The Source represents a compelling addition to our Saadiyat Grove development, bringing a totally new living concept to the destination after we launched five buildings at Grove Views last year," said Rashed Al Omaira, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldar Development.
