The design for the theme "Use of Watar in the Oil and Gas Industry" earned RasGas the Best Stand Design award during the eighth Environment Fair organised by Qatar Petroleum (QP).

"RasGas is very pleased to win the first place for the stand design during the event. Our stand, which attracted hundreds of visitors, captured the essence of the QP water conservation and reuse message in a simple and elegant design," said RasGas Environmental Affairs manager Hassan Ibrahim.

"We constantly drive for resource efficiencies throughout our operations and we have several initiatives in place to reduce water consumption. We have new treatment measures in place to allow process water to be recycled while using another portion for irrigation purposes at our site," added Ibrahim.

He said the RasGas stand also raised awareness about groundwater monitoring and how the company tracks the regular monitoring of 19 wells, which are reported to national regulators.

"We used an innovative combination of holographic images, which is a first for the event, and colourful water pipes, an open stand design and an attractive green backdrop to tell our conservation and reuse story," said Ibrahim.

He said the RasGas stand also hosted a colouring competition for students and distributed prizes to nine winners. More than 500 students participated in the colouring competition during the fair. Three winners were selected from the under-6 years, 6-11 years and 12-14 years categories.

During the event, RasGas also donated 30 OneTouch Ultra System devices (glucose meter) to Hamad Medical Corporation for diabetic patients, who cannot afford to buy the devices.
