DOHA: Qatar Shell and Qatar University have extended another two-year agreement for an extensive Sustainable Development Chair in different areas of studies for students of the university.

Andrew Brown, Executive Vice-President and Managing Director at Pearl GTL, said the project aligns with the Qatar National Vision 2030 to develop studies on technology that will give sufficient yet clean energy to the country and to the rest of the world.

Professor Sheikha Abdulla Al Misnad, QU President, said the Shell Sustainable Development Chair and all other projects with the company have made an impressive impact to the students to excel in different extra-curricular activities citing "Life is Engineering" and "Shell Eco-Marathon race" in Germany.

The agreement will dwell most on further research projects on developing technology and methodology for clean energy in the wake of the global calls to address the issue on global warming. "The new project will make an impact to the future tapping young people to develop it," Brown said. He added the sustainable development chair has led an open door for QU to have grants for further studies.
