BEIRUT (Zawya Dow Jones)--Qatar Gas Transport Co., or Nakilat, said Thursday it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Netherlands' Damen Shipyards Group to set up a shipbuilding joint venture.
The joint-venture company will start operating a new shipyard that is under construction in Qatar's Ras Laffan port in early 2010, Nakilat said in a statement on the Doha bourse Web site.
The shipyard is designed for the manufacturing of a wide range of vessels, including commercial, naval and coast guard vessels, and luxury yachts, the statement said.
