Doha - In view of its plans to extend services to Dukhan, Al Khor and Ras Laffan areas for the needy and deserving members of the community residing in those areas, Indian Community Benevolent Fund has recently organised an Awareness Programme 'ICBF Sandhya' for the entire Indian community of Dukhan and Al Khor areas. The programme at Dukhan was held in association with Indian Society of Dukhan (ISD) at Dukhan Cinema, where Dr George Joseph, ambassador of India to Qatar was the chief guest and Nasser Al Kuwari, Production Manager, Qatar Petroleum, Dukhan was the guest of honour.
The programme at Al Khor was held in association with 'Bharathi' at Al Waha Club in Al Khor community where Dr George Joseph, Ambassador of India to Qatar was the chief guest. Dr George Joseph appealed to all Indians staying at those remote locations to come forward to help the needy and deserving members of the community thru ICBF. He further expressed the need of such assistance and ICBF's role in helping the needy members of Indian community thru various means.
ICBF president Nilangshu Dey presented the role of ICBF and about the various types of financial, medical, legal and other minor assistances being given by ICBF to more than 450 domestic and industrial workers, housemaids etc. every year. Dey announced that for better access of such needy and deserving persons staying at Dukhan and Zekreet area, ICBF in association with Indian Society of Dukhan (ISD) is planning to open the local Help Desk at Dukhan area to provide prompt assistance to those needy persons. A similar Help desk at Al Khor area will be opened by ICBF in association with 'Bharathi' - the local organisation of Indians residing at Al Khor to provide such assistance to the persons staying at Al Khor and Ras Laffan area.
