Tehran - Qatar's Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage said here Monday Islamic countries have a rich cultural heritage and National Library of Iran is a pride for the Islamic world. According to IRNA Culture Desk reporter, Hamad bin Abdul-Aziz al-Kawari in an interview with IRNA on the sidelines of his visit of the National Library of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said, 'This library which is one of the largest libraries of this country, is a part of the cultural-scientific heritage of the Iranian nation and can play a very important role in promoting solidarity among nations.'
Al-Kawari expressing delight that a Muslim and great country like Iran cares so much about books, libraries and book keeping, added, 'I hope the visit of the Qatari cultural delegation of the great wealth of the National Library of Iran would not only lead to the strengthening of the two countries' cultural relations, but would also mark the beginning of a fruitful relations and cooperation between the two countries national libraries.'
In his tour of the various parts of the national library, al-Kawari expressed surprise over the huge and yet dimensions of the book lending, the Iranology and the Islamology sections of the library and announced his will to harbinger greater cooperation between the two countries libraries.
The Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister of Qatar al-Kawari also renewed his official invitation of Iran to attend the 2011 International Doha Book exhibition, adding, 'We will allocate the best and largest booth of that exhibition to the Islamic Republic of Iran.'
He reiterated, 'The former special guests of Doha Book Exhibition have respectively been the United States, France, and Turkey during the past three years.'
Minister Hamad bin-Abdul-Aziz al-Kawari at the end put down a note in the Memos Notebook of the National Library of the Islamic Library of Iran, which reads, 'The great nations attach great importance to books and the book reading culture and the Iranian nation is one of them, and I could tell so judging by the great attention that Iran has paid to its libraries...'
The Qatari minister and his accompanying delegation have in their three day visit of Iran also met and conferred with our country's top cultural officials.
