Muscat - Qatar Airways is celebrating further success on the international circuit picking up an award for Best Stand on the final day of the three-day Oman Travel Market, held in Muscat, a press release said yesterday.
The event, organised by Oman's Ministry of Tourism, featured exhibitors from more than 35 countries, all promoting tourism, trade and investment opportunities in the Sultanate.
Qatar Airways Regional Manager for the Arabian Peninsula Ali Abdul Khaliq Ibrahim, praised organisers for putting on a great show that helped highlight the tourism industry in Oman, rest of the Middle East and, indeed, around the world.
The airline has won a host of accolades in recent weeks, including its Cabin Crew being named Best in the Middle East at the Business Traveller Awards, and for the second year running being voted Best Airline In The Middle East at the annual Middle East and North Africa Awards.
Qatar Airways Privilege Club has also been honoured in the United States, picking up an unprecedented eight Freddie Awards, which recognise frequent flyer programmes of airlines and other travel industry suppliers.
"Oman is a vitally important market for Qatar Airways, which has recently increased the number of flights between Muscat and our Doha hub to twice-daily to reflect the growing traffic between both cities and beyond on our rapidly expanding international network," said Abdul Khaliq.
Dignitaries, members of the media and visitors who flocked to the exhibition, praised Qatar Airways for its exquisite stand, which featured a mock-up of the airline's unique First Class lounge onboard its flagship long-haul aircraft, the Airbus A340.
Qatar Airways' award-winning Five Star hospitality was commended by organisers, describing it as a highlight of the exhibition.
The stand featured an international route map with large billboards promoting the airline's forthcoming flights from Doha to New York and Washington DC, which mark the carrier's first steps into North America.
