Doha: Qatar Shipping Company (Q-Ship) took delivery of MT Alhasbah, the second in a series of four 105,000 dwt aframax size crude oil tanker.
Q-Ship's Chairman and Managing Director, Salem Butti Al Naimi, said Hyundai, the world largest shipyard built the tanker in accordance with the standards and specifications laid down by Det Norske Veritas (DNV). The tanker is to operate in spot markets.
He added that two more crude carriers and two clean product tankers are to join Q Ship's fleet in the first half of next year. "Newly built tonnages are valuable addition to Q Ship's fleet expansion plan. We are committed to being world's premier shipping company in the field of oil and gas transportation", Al Naimi added.
A ceremony to mark the occasion was held in Busan, South Korea and was attended by Mohammed Khalifa Al Sada, Q Ship's Director, S.H Kang, CEO of Hyundai Samho, Khalid Al Dosari, 2nd Secretary at the Embassy of Qatar in Korea, Brij Singhal, Ranjit Singh and Jaber Al Saleh of Q Ship.
