Three years ago, two friends, Ashish Desai and Hanif Multani, decided to cement their friendship by becoming business partners and thus was born Kadtec Engineering, a company specialising in construction equipment. Piling and foundation tools is their niche area of operation and they take pride in the fact that they help in laying a strong foundation for any structure. Kadtec has JVs and global tie-ups for manufacturing and distributing a number of equipment. "We are a one-stop source for augurs (augers), buckets, (drilling attachment tools such as round shank picks, flat and carbide teeths, adapters and pilots), pumps for piling, PC stranded anchor wires, barrels, wedges and undercarriage spares and have built up a good business rapport with piling and foundation contractors," reveals Desai.
The technical know-how of the directors has helped the company grow at a rate of 200 per cent every year. In a short while it has captured 70 per cent of the market share in the UAE, and is fast growing on a global scale too. Kadtec is the largest stockist and distributor of drilling and piling tools and accessories in Sharjah (UAE) and has a well-established business spa-nning the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Their carbon-tipped accessories are very popular in the construction industry for durability and ease of operation.
Recently the company has tied up with one of the leading piling rig manufacturers as sole distributor for the Middle East and India. They not only sell the equipment but also offer after-sales service and backup.
Construction activity is booming in the Gulf and this translates into great business opportunities for the company. To meet the different needs of numerous contractors, Kadtec sells new as well as used piling equipment. Contractors have different needs - at times they need to buy the equipment, and there are times when an equipment is needed for a short duration only or for a particular project. Kadtec offers something for every need. It has a rental department which hires out piling rings, crawler cranes, hydraulic vibratory hammers and related tools and accessories. Like the equipment it sells, Kadtec is laying a strong foundation for its rapid growth.
