Damascus - Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi said that criminal Wahabi takfiri mentality cannot defeat the genuine Syrian mentality which springs from its deep history and its people love for peace and culture.
Meeting members of the executive bureau of the Artists Guild headed by Fadia Khattab on Monday, Premier al-Halqi said Syrian artists boast a reserve of heritage, knowledge, political insight, patriotism, and pan-Arabism, and that they carry a heartfelt artistic message that won the hearts of audiences around the world.
He asserted that the message carried by Syrian artists has always been a message of love, peace, dialogue among the civilizations of the world, and relaying the voice of Arabs to the world.
Al-Halqi lauded the role of Syrian artists in producing movies and series that touch upon the concerns of citizens and take up their causes, calling for producing works that depict the truth of what is happening in Syria, specifically the crimes committed by terrorists.
For their part, the Guild members voiced support for the Syrian people's steadfastness in the face of the unjust war waged upon it, lauding the government's efforts to bolster national economy, provide citizens' needs, and rebuild Syria.
Talks during the meeting discussed the state of the Artists Guild and means to improve its role in the future, and the difficulties facing production during the current circumstances, with emphasis on the need to rely on national resources in producing movies and series.
