TUNIS (TAP) - President of the Tunisian Bar Association Mohamed Fadhel Mahfoudh called for strengthening the role of the Bar within regulatory bodies in charge of elections, the Constitutional Court and the Judicial Authority.
The financial situation of lawyers was also debated, Mahfoudh pointed out following a meeting, on Thursday, with Interim Prime Minister Ali Larayedh.
Besides, the two sides underlined the need to review - for the sake of fairness- the way cases of the State and public establishments are allocated to lawyers.
The talk discussed the creation of a court of appeal in Sidi Bouzid to respond favourably to the request of locals.
In this respect, Mahfoudh said the interim Premier promised to set up a new judicial map which will encompass all governorates.
In addition, he laid emphasis on the necessity of keeping the general public updated about the latest developments concerning the assassination of Popular Front leader Chokri Belaid.
