The Jaffari Endowments Directorate has finalised the first payment for Bahraini citizens stranded abroad due to the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).

“The payouts will cover their living costs until their return to Bahrain – including accommodation, meals and other basic commodities such as medication,” said follow-up committee chairman Mahmoud Toublani.

He said more payouts were underway so that contractors could provide assistance to Bahrainis abroad – in line with royal directives issued by His Majesty King Hamad.

Jaffari Endowments chairman Youssef bin Saleh Al Saleh held a meeting with 15 contractors and representatives of travel agencies to discuss the implementation of the royal directives.

Mr Al Saleh paid tribute to the King, hailing royal keenness on the wellbeing of citizens in Bahrain and abroad.

Anwar Tourism Agency has been assigned to represent Jaffari Endowments Directorate and communicate with Bahrainis who did not travel to Iran through contractors.

Citing figures provided by the ministries of foreign affairs and health, Mr Toublani said more than 1,300 Bahrainis are in Iran at present, stressing co-ordination with both ministers to track other citizens.
