MUSCAT -- The first HSE Awards introduced in the Sultanate were presented by Oman Society of Contractors (OSE) at the weekend to Galfar Engineering and Contracting SAOG in the OSC Member Category, and L&T Electromech in the Non-OSC Member Category. The award presentations took place on the sidelines of the IOSH Middle East Conference 2012.
The awards were presented to three submissions in each of the two categories (OSC member companies category and Non-OSC member companies category) based on their HSE performance. In the OSC Member category, the first runner up was Al Hassan Group of Companies, while the second runner up was Bahwan Engineering Company LLC. In the non-OSC member category the first runner-up was CCC Tav JV, while the second runner-up was Powertech Engineering.
"The first HSE Awards introduced in the Sultanate by Oman Society of Contractors aims to focus on innovative and successful HSE practices to encourage the introduction and implementation of new ideas and technology in the construction sector. Oman Society of Contractors takes the initiative to make the HSE Awards' competition an annual event to champion the cause of HSE in the construction and other industrial sectors in the Sultanate in the coming years," said Simon Karam, Chairman of Communication and Members Committee in OSC.
"The award instituted by OSC to motivate companies, to investigate and initiate activities that are beneficial to the health and safety of employees and the community and the protection of the environment in which they operate. The Awards were decided based on the Company's HSE activities. All entries are judged for compliance of HSE policy, success and innovation in implementing the policy," added Salim Talib al Sheedi, CEO of Oman Society of Contractors.
