Karachi: Many parts of the old city were forced to shut down after one of the three recovered bodies was identified as that of a Sunni Tehreek (ST) office-bearer who was kidnapped on Saturday.

The three bodies were found in the early hours of Sunday in addition to the 10 people who were killed in the ongoing violence in the city.

Police was deployed around the ST head-office near the Civil Hospital amid rising tension in the city after the body was identified as Javed Qadri, who was the head of the Ranchor Lane Sector.

Men riding on the motorcycles fired shots in the air scaring shop owners who opened their outlets on Sunday, which is a public holiday.

Some miscreants also set a mini bus on fire near the Bolton Market that caused traffic blockade.

Hundreds of acvitivists and sympathisers of ST offered funeral prayers for Qadri at the MA Jinnah Road.

Exchange of fire and grenade attacks continued for the second day in Lyari prompting the residents to protest the poor law and order situation. Lyari remained tense after a man was gunned down in Behar Colony.
