Rasht, Gilan province - Oil Minister Rostam Ghassemi said on Monday discovering of Sardar Jangal new oilfield is a great development in Oil and Gas industry. He made the remarks in a ceremony of launching Sardar Jangal Oil and Gas industrial complex in Roodsar in northern Gilan province.
Ghassemi said Iran would play a great role in the region and world with the help of its youth and scientists while still suffering from western sanctions designed to stop Iran's development and progress.
He said that Iran is a rich geopolitical country with mines and hydrocarbon resources adding that Iran possesses more than 17 percent of world gas reserve and 12 percent of oil reserve.
The oil minister said that world countries nowadays are in need of sustainable energy supplies for national development while Iran possesses rich sustainable energy resources.
Ghassemi said Iran had done a lot to discover oil and gas fields in depth of the Caspian Sea and construct related platforms and supporting sites accordingly.
Sardar Jangal newly constructed oil and gas industrial complex rooms for 50 trillion cubic feet gas, ie. 10 times more than Shah Deniz gas field in Azerbaijan.
The field is also predicted to hold about eight billion barrel oil reserve.
