DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Qatar Petroleum Co., or Qapco, a subsidiary of conglomerate Industries Qatar, Sunday said it signed a deal with Norgas, the Norwegian shipping company, to transport 54,000 to 65,000 tons of ethylene this year.
"Qatar Petrochemical Co., a subsidiary of Industries Qatar, and Norgas have signed a contract of affreightment (COA) for the transportation of ethylene from Mesaieed to various international destinations in the year 2010," said a statement posted on the Qatar bourse Web site.
The statement added that Norgas could transport double the specified ethylene volumes this year once the new Ras Laffan ethylene cracker starts up.
Qapco currently produces 800,000 tons a year of ethylene, the company said in the statement.
