Dubai, Feb 08th, 2010 (WAM) -- The Al-Maktoum Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies in Dundee, Scotland celebrates tomorrow the graduation of the ninth batch of students, who were sent by six universities in UAE.
The winter programme in multiculturalism and dialogue of civilisations was attended by 35 girl students from Zayed University, Abu Dhabi University, British University in Dubai and American University in Sharjah in addition to five students from Qatar. The training programme came as per directives from Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Finance Minister HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Institute and the Representative of the patron of the graduation ceremony Mirza Al Sayegh said that the short-term training programmes in multiculturalism and dialogue of civilisations aims at enhancing social and humanitarian relations. The Al-Maktoum Institute, Scotland was established in 2001 by its Patron and Sponsor, HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, whose vision for multiculturalism is at the heart of the Institute. Al-Maktoum Institute is a new and exciting development in teaching and research in the study of Islam and Muslims. It is an independent institution, with its degree programmes validated by the University of Aberdeen.
