Some of the world's best entertainers and performers will perform at the opening night of the seventh Muscat International Film Festival (MIFF) on March 24.

Nancy Ajram, a multi-platinum Lebanese recording artiste and goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, Anandan Sivamani, the world's fastest percussionist; dancer Isha Sharvani, Daksha Seth and troupe and Salah al Zadjali, a popular Omani singer, will perform at the Grand Hall of SQU from 7.30 to 10pm, according to a press release.

"Although this is a film festival, one should not forget that we have opening and closing nights and we want them packed with entertainment so that the audience has something extra special to take home," said Dr Khalid al Zadjali, chairman of MIFF and Oman Film Society.

"For the opening, we have these stars, who will surely sizzle on stage and add to the glitz and glamour. The closing night has a separate line-up of artists."

While Nancy is called the Britney Spears of the Middle East, Sivamani is hailed as the world's fastest drummer and is as adept on the udukai, darbuka and octoban as he is on the drums.

Isha Sharvani, the daughter of renowned dancer Daksha Seth and Australian music composer Davissaro are all set to amaze the audience with near-gravity defying aerial dances, the release added.
